'eSourcing' your Curriculum: The story of one district’s success using an open source curriculum

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Following the 2011 tornado that destroyed five of Joplin's schools, the district established a textbook-free 1:1 program where teachers learned to use open educational resources (eSources) to transform their learning environments. eSourcing (or open sourcing) your curriculum allows for freedom to differentiate instruction, use current events as teaching tools, provides instruction that is deeper, richer, more personal and meaningful, and can also help your district financially. Participants will hear the story of this district's success using an open source curriculum, including the points of view from teachers, administrators, and students, and will demonstrate the process to take when moving toward a digital curriculum without textbooks.
