Alicia Banuelos holds a PhD in Physics and began her professional career as researcher at the Plasma Physics Lab of the University of Buenos Aires. In 1989, while working for the National Secretary of Science and Technology, she supervised the digitalization of Argentina’s Ministry of Economy. In the private field, she created the first company that developed software using the TCP/IP protocol and then sold it to Structured Intelligence, becoming its CTO, where she was in charge of TCS’ transactions in Argentina (the largest software development company in India). From December 2005 to April 2012, Dr. Banuelos was Rector of Universidad de la Punta. In 2008, she was also appointed Minister of Development for the San Luis Government, where she was responsible for more than 500 initiatives of the San Luis Digital Agenda, such as free Wi-Fi for all the territory and the inclusion of TICs in education. Dr. Banuelos has published several national and international papers, has been awarded several prizes related to the informatics industry, and has given numerous lectures on informatics technologies, the Kyoto Protocol and education.
