Shannon Pignato

Shannon Pignato has both the privilege and responsibility to fulfill the roll of Principal at Auburn Junior High School in Auburn, Alabama. Auburn Junior High School is beginning their seventh year of an innovative one-to-one program and Dr. Pignato is fortunate to work in tandem with a dynamic group of professionals who embody this commitment and hold sacred, continuous improvement efforts, in this area. Dr. Pignato has served in an administrative capacity at the elementary and secondary levels for the past fifteen years, in both Florida and Alabama. Prior to school leadership, her instructional experience was in Special Education, serving students with emotional and learning disabilities. Dr. Pignato has presented at the Southern Regional Council on Educational Administration (SRCEA) and the American Educational Research Association (AERA), as well as provided school specific context professional development to various school systems on the issue of school bullying. Dr. Pignato holds a B.S. and M.S. degree in Special Education from Florida State University as well as her Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Barry University. Recently receiving her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Auburn University, Pignato's research interests include bullying and harassment, peer group dynamics, meaningful professional development, and student engagement and voice through technology.
